Choline - A Mind Booster

What are nutrients? Nutrients are the elements and compounds needed for brain function, metabolism boosts, and growing processes. Many are aware the body needs nutrients for mobility and energy, but fail to realize the brain needs nutrients as well. It is important to feed the brain with nutrients in order to think, remember, focus, and react. One of the essential nutrients for the mind is Choline.

What is Choline?

Choline is referred to as food for the brain. It is a very important nutrient because our brains, livers, and other parts depend on it. Choline is an essential nutrient that is water-soluble and connected with muscle and memory control. It is found in food items such as, whole grains, milk, egg yolks, lean beef, tofu, cauliflower, fish, spinach, and soybeans, and is a benefit to disorders affecting the nervous system. The nutrient Choline also assists in hormone production and metabolism. A diet lacking this nutrient is not recognized until there is a problem in the kidneys or liver. A deficiency in choline can cause growing problems, abnormalities in the bones, hypertension, and possibe infertility.

Benefits of Choline:

• Improves learning ability and memory.

• Aids in the prevention of memory loss.

• Helps with mental capacity clarity and concentration.

• Helps with the ability to focus and stay alert.

• Vital in brain development.

• Aids in developing healthy cell membranes.

• Protects the liver from fat accumulation.

• Used for depression and brain disorders.

Mental health is critical for focusing and learning. Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Vitamin B12, Biotin, Pantothenic Acid, Calcium, Copper, Chromium, Taurine, and Glycine are several essential nutrients that also aid in giving the brain and body the boost they need to function properly. Most people are unaware of what these nutrients are and how they effect them.

• COPPER: Copper helps the body use iron, aids in the reduction of tissue damage, assists in maintaining healthy bones, assists the body in producing melanin, and helps the thyroid function properly.

• VITAMIN B12: Vitamin B12 helps in the production of healthy red blood cells, boost the immune system, increases mind endurance, helps with cell maintenance, aids in the formation of DNA, provides memory assistance, and is used for skin treatments. Vitamin B12 is found in most meats, such as chicken, fish, and other various seafoods, as well as dairy products and certain vegetables.

• BIOTIN: Biotin is involved in energy production and is a part of the Vitamin B family.  It is needed for fatty acid formation and assists in the metabolism of proteins, fats, and carbs.

• CHROMIUM: Chromium helps enhance insulin action, carb storage, and metabolism, as well as protein. A majority of people need this nutrient for blood sugar levels and protein, carb, and fat metabolism.

• TAURINE: Taurine is a highly needed amino acid that builds protein for the brain, heart, eyes, and blood. Many people need this in a dietary supplement because they do not eat enough foods containing it, causing their levels to become low. Consuming Taurine in a dietary supplement adds to the natural Taurine found in foods, such as fish and meat, and is not meant for the distinct purpose of treating a medical condition or disease.

• GLYCINE: Glycine is a non-essential amino acid nutrient that develops the tissue of muscle and changes glucose into energy. Glycine is needed to regulate blood sugar levels and benefits the digestive and central nervous systems. The body often suffers from the breakdown of muscles and glycine assists in preventing this by elevating creatine to strengthen and build muscle mass. Lacking glycine prevents the body from repairing it's damaged tissues and can leave a person fatigued or even anemic.
