Basketball Guards

The Myosource Kinetic Bands are a resistance training tool that can be incorporated into a basketball guard’s conditioning and skills training, working the muscles by challenging  the player's movements. They are easy to use, lightweight, travel easy, and inexpensive. The Kinetic Bands are designed to keep a player’s core activated at all times so strength transfers to the lower body, while the upper body remains constant.

The tension of the resistance bands allow the athlete to build quick contracting muscles so they are able to get out of pressured situations and develop opportunities for their team to score. Training with the Myosource Kinetic Bands develops intense flexibility, endurance, and strength throughout the legs, hips, glutes and core muscles. Basketball players want to be agile and explosive when handling the ball so the defense considers them a constant threat.

Point Guards use the Myosource Kinetic Bands to increase jump height, stability, body control and endurance for shooting execution. Basketball players can also use Myosource Kinetic Bands to build muscle strength after an injury as well as injury prevention. Strong muscles built with the resistance bands are developed to withstand the wear and tear of basketball training, practicing, and games.

Basketball Point Guard Skills:

Basketball point guards are required to lead the team, control the offense , make plays, communicate with the team, all while pushing the ball up the floor.  Point guards must be skilled at dribbling the ball with both hands effectively with the ability to keep the head and eyes up while controlling the tempo of the offense..

Guards must be able to take outside shots, as well as take the ball to the basket through the defense. Basketball point guards must have a strong lower body, core, and upper body. They must maintain strong and explosive muscles throughout the body for running up and down the court, lateral movements, jumps, and passes. Players must have the speed to move around the court, whether they have the basketball or not and be able to pass the ball with speed and accuracy in order for their team to score points and prevent turnovers.

Basketball Shooting Guard Skills: 

A lot of the skills basketball shooting guards must have are the same as point guards. However, as the name states, shooting guards spend more time shooting the basketball.

 Shooting guards must have great shooting range and accuracy along with quality dribbling skills with both hands in order to create shooting opportunities. .

 Shooting guards must also have full body strength and explosiveness, quick feet and strong hip flexors for quick change of direction.
