Perfect Your Toe Touch for Cheerleading – Increase Your Jumping Ability By Training with Resistance Bands
Posted by Myosource Kinetic Bands on 9th Jul 2013
Are you looking to get higher, faster, safer, and better looking cheer jumps? The next video in our new Myosource Cheer Training focuses on Toe Touch Jump Ability. The kinetic bands help build leg, hip and core strength, which are essential for higher jumps, better form and safer landings. The Kinetic Bands / Cheer Bands can be used for warm up, stretching, jump training and strength development all during your normal stretching, warm-up, and practice routine.
This video is a continuation from the technique and form video of performing a Cheer Toe Touch. The video shows how to use Myosource Kinetic Bands / Cheer Jump Bands to jump higher and become more flexible to perform your cheer toe touch jump. The Kinetic Bands are worn right above the knee and directly target the muscles used for jumping and tumbling. The cheer bands provide resistance in the front and in the back to build strength in the legs, hips, glutes, and throughout the core.
Notice that when Ashley performs her Toe Touch with the cheer bands / resistance bands she has to work through the resistance and holds her form. When the cheer bands are removed she feels light and is able to jump higher with more power and explosiveness. The resistance causes the muscles to fire, which results in building muscle strength throughout the legs, thighs, hips, glutes, and core. The cheer bands are working to build muscle strength, which is essential for gaining for cheer jumps.
• Start by putting on Myosource Kinetic Bands / Cheer Jump Bands
• Perform 3 resisted Toe Touch Jumps
• Make sure not to lean forward – keep the hips back – stay in form – leaning forward causes deceleration instead of the needed acceleration
• Remember the feet are to come up to the hands – NOT the hands coming down to the feet
• Unbuckle the bands – click to each side so they are not dangling around
• Perform Toe Touch Jumps unrestricted – notice the difference and how lightweight you feel
Make sure to get on the balls of the feet to build momentum to explosively get off the ground. Gaining jump height will allow you to perform a Toe Touch Jump successfully as well as land safely.
Often cheerleaders worry that they will build big bulky muscles but Myosource Kinetic Bands / Cheer Jump Bands tone and firm the muscles through conditioning to increased elasticity for full range of motion. The cheer bands do not restrict or limit cheerleaders from performing their jumps, stunts, drills, and skills while wearing the bands. They are simply added to any workout or practice to mimic jump movements just as they will be performed while cheering and in competition. Building more power in the legs, hips, thighs, glutes, and core with Myosource Kinetic Bands / Cheer Jump Bands will result in impressive great looking jumps.
