Whether you are the fastest or slowest on the team, there is always room to increase running speed, lateral movement, agility and quickness. This is why so many athletes utilize speed-training coaches and are involved in speed and agility classes. It seems like everyone wants to get faster.
When a football player is training to increase speed, training slow is not an option. It should seem logical that in order to increase speed that a football player or any athlete needs to train by moving fast or by using overspeed training. The goal is to get the fast twitch muscle fibers to fire more rapidly. Strength and endurance training will make an athlete stronger but it does not help the muscles contract in an instant. Speed training is called “Speed” training for a reason.
To increase speed a football player must train the fast twitch muscles to instantly contract for explosive quickness and speed. If a football player or any athlete wants to increase their speed or “get faster” as they say then start training the fast twitch muscles, examine their lack of development and find out what they are really capable of.
Whether a football player is on offense or defense speed is a key component in making things happen. Speed is pretty much a representation of how fast the muscles are contracting.Strengthening muscles is great but it does not make them contract quickly for speed.
This video is about increasing speed and agility along with the quickness of a football player's feet. The athletes are utilizing Myosource Kinetic Bands during their training. Myosource Kinetic Bands are a resistance-training tool that straps firmly just above the knees and can be worn during stretching, warming up, practice and drills as well as pre-game.
