This weeks training is Part 2 of our “How Do I Get Faster” speed training. The drill in the video above is called a “4 Corner Point Drill” and is performed while wearing Myosource Ultimate Kinetic Bands. This drill is great for athletes who want to increase their speed and agility. During the drill athletes are commanded by voice or you can use directional pointing to move around the 4-corner area. The goal is to remain in balance and react as quickly as possible to the cues that a coach, trainer, or partner is giving. This speed drill is used often because it works on both linear and lateral footwork and speed so that athletes are able to react to a variety of situations they are put in on the field, court, or mat. Whether you are a tennis player trying to dig a hit out of the corner or short by the net, the football running back that needs to juke a block, or the basketball player who needs to drive the ball through to the basket, this drill will help increase your speed and agility with the assistance of Myosource Kinetic Bands. The bands will provide the tension that the muscles need to work harder which will cause the muscles to contract faster resulting in increased speed and agility. Simple 4 Corner Point Drill Instructions: 

Set up four cones each one in a corner to make a 10 yards by 10 yards square.

Put on Myosource Ultimate Kinetic Bands 

Athlete(s) will start in the middle of the square 

Athlete(s) will react to the command of the coach or trainer who is speaking and pointing directional commands. Make sure to move as quickly as possible

 Focus on using the proper footwork and type of step whether it is a forward sprint, drop step backward sprint, backpedal, or any type of lateral. Sprinting drills and speed drills with Myosource Kinetic Bands will help you get results quickly.

 The job of the coach or trainer is to make sure each athlete is working at 100% during this drill. Be loud and almost obnoxious in order to push your athletes to maximize their performance.

 Coaches and trainers must give quick instructions so that sprinters do not hesitate before they move in a different direction. Athletes are supposed to change direction quickly and be pushed hard to increase their reaction time. A simple hesitation or split second could be the difference in a game, set, or match. 

Train like you want to perform 

When athletes / sprinters become familiar with the drill coaches and trainers could add a ball, blocker, or other item to make the drill more intense. In the video notice that the football is used for speed in fumble recovery. There are a variety of ways to use an object to intensify this drill. 

 Notice in the video that Trevor reminds coaches and trainers to work their athletes/ sprinters for 15-20 seconds at top speed. This will allow the athletes to maximize their speed instead of becoming fatigued. Allow athletes to take a short break while another athlete or athletes perform the drill then back again.
